F.A.Q.
Where are you based?
Kuroshio is designed, curated, and researched in New York City.
Who makes these?
Each edition or textile is printed by us or our printing partners. Every product is quality tested by us in New York before it goes live.
Is the shop environmentally sustainable?
We strive to make thoughtful production choices wherever possible. All apparel is produced on demand or in small batches to help reduce overproduction and unnecessary inventory waste, and every purchase helps fund global reforestation and carbon removal projects through our partnership with Ecologi.
Many of our garments are produced using Comfort Colors® apparel, which is manufactured through facilities participating in programs and standards focused on responsible production practices, including:
- U.S. Cotton Trust Protocol
- WRAP (Worldwide Responsible Accredited Production)
- OEKO-TEX certified dyes and processes on select products
- Social and environmental compliance monitoring
- Water reduction and energy efficiency initiatives
Comfort Colors garments are also garment-dyed and designed for long-term wear, encouraging slower consumption and longer product life compared to disposable fast fashion.
While no apparel production is impact-free, we believe in transparency, responsible sourcing, and creating products intended to be kept and worn for years.
Where does the sourcing come from?
Our graphics are sourced from museum and government archives and from physical libraries and used bookstores across the globe. Every image is researched, restored, and refined by hand before it goes on a textile. That process involves correcting color, repairing damage from age, and bringing the artwork up to the resolution standards required for quality printing.
Shipping & Returns
Orders are printed and shipped within 2–5 business days. Standard shipping to the US takes 2–5 additional business days; international orders may take 10–30 business days.
Because each item is produced individually, we don't accept returns for sizing or change of mind. If your order arrives damaged or defective, reach out within 30 days and we'll make it right.
What makes the print quality different?
We use garment-dyed heavyweight cotton and printing techniques that preserve the texture and tonal range of the original artwork. Creative liberties are sometimes taken to emphasize or minimize the imperfections of the archival process.
